    Topics include:

    • how to obtain, prepare and read a fecal sample
    • background on ruminant parasites as related to camelids
    • anthelmintics: past, current and future
    • parasite control practices

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Clarissa Wisner, a career microscopist and alpaca owner living in Rolla, MO.  Clarissa received her BS in Chemistry in 1981, MS in Geology in 1994, a second MS in Engineering in 2007, and her PhD in Chemistry in 2014. She is employed at MS&T as an electron microscopy specialist.

The birth of cria is one of the most exciting times of the year. It can also a time of stress and anxiety, with alpaca owners hopeful for no birthing problems. Learning to address problems that may occur during delivery will give owners confidence as we enter the birthing season.

Dr. Norm Evans will present a day-long seminar in neonatal care. The morning session will consist of lecture relating to pregnancy, nutrition and birth. The afternoon will include a "wet lab" with individual practice addressing dystocia and other potential birthing issues.

This is one of the most important educational events for alpaca breeders. You will leave with the confidence and knowledge you need for your birthing season.

Registration is limited, so sign up now!
