Alpaca Show

MOPACA is committed to providing education for members as well as members of the public.

Every winter MOPACA offers a Winter Seminar: an opportunity for education about topics ranging from fleece and fiber production to animal husbandry and farm maintenance.  Additional training on specific topics is offered periodically. Learn more about the Winter Seminar and other upcoming educational events here.

Education for the public focuses on the alpaca, their fiber, and considerations when starting a farm.  Learn more about alpacas here.

More details about MOPACA's education here.

Membership in MOPACA is an investment in the alpaca industry in our region. Equally important, it's an investment in a wonderful network of alpaca owners and breeders who share the love of alpacas, their fiber, and the desire to be responsible caretakers brings us together as a community.

MOPACA has a proud history of developing outstanding education, including Fiber U, which is now an independent event that continues to be held annually in Lebanon, Missouri.

MOPACA's winter seminar is held every January, and focuses on topics including fiber and fiber processing, animal husbandry, color genetics, and marketing,

A quarterly newsletter provides written communications from the Board and committee chairs.

The MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show has become one of the country's favorites.

Each year hundreds of alpacas and their owners converge at the American Royal Hale Arena in Kansas City, Missouri.

The MOPACA show offers an opportunity for alpaca owners to compete in a halter show, with nationally known and certified alpaca judges assessing their fiber and their conformation. Additional competitions such as performance, walking fleece, or fleece shows may also be held.

Important note about the 2021 MOPACA Show:  Due to the ongoing pandemic and the requirements of the City of Kansas City Missouri, the 2021 show has been cancelled.  The Board and Officers of MOPACA are committed to make the 2022 show bigger and better than ever!

Important information about the 2021 MOPACA Show:

The MOPACA Board and Officers have made the decision that we must cancel the MOPACA MIAS show this year. The Kansas City Missouri COVID restrictions have been challenging, to say the least, and have severely impacted our ability to produce the kind of show that we are committed to providing.  Our show has historically attracted outstanding attendance from the general public, excellent vendors, and fabulous involvement from volunteers outside the alpaca community.  Rest assured, the MOPACA show will be back in 2022, bigger and better than ever!! Dates will be announced as soon as possible.  Thank you so much for your continuing support of the MOPACA show. Next year we hope the pandemic will be in our rear view mirror and we can once again share our alpacas with each other and the public!
