  • 23 Feb 2019
  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • MS&T Campus, Room 11 Schenk Hall, Rolla, MO

Sutton At Home Alpacas is sponsoring the "Basic Fecal Examination" workshop to help participants learn more about performing onsite fecal examinations for camelids and small ruminants.

Anyone who owns alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep, cattle, and others who who work with herd animals will benefit.  Learning to perform your own fecal examination will save you both time and money when treating your animals.

Topics include:

  • how to obtain, prepare and read a fecal sample
  • background on ruminant parasites as related to camelids
  • anthelmintics: past, current and future
  • parasite control practices

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Clarissa Wisner, a career microscopist and alpaca owner living in Rolla, MO.  Clarissa received her BS in Chemistry in 1981, MS in Geology in 1994, a second MS in Engineering in 2007, and her PhD in Chemistry in 2014. She is employed at MS&T as an electron microscopy specialist.

Dr. Victoria Kwasa will be a guest speaker on overall herd health.

The class fee is $150 for one person and $120 for the second person from the same farm.
