Halter Shows and Walking Fleece Show

Halter Shows and Fees

Each alpaca entry for halter, bred & owned, and all group classes is $45.00 for MOPACA members. The non-member fee for those entries is $50.00.   (You can join or renew at any time during the year to receive member benefits. Join or renew here.)

Alpacas must be registered in the name of the current owner as listed on the AOA registration certificate. Pending certificates will not be allowed. If applicable, an Owner of Record for Show form, signed by the owner as listed on the AOA certificate, must be submitted. This form is available when you register, or you may download it here.

All exhibitors must also complete and submit Exhibitor Disclosure Forms when they register. The forms are available for completion online.

NOTE:  Your alpacas must be registered with the Alpaca Owners Association

Please note that your September 30th or earlier crias will qualify for the MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show and the Mid-America Alpaca Challenge 2024 double show.

To register for the shows, they must:

            • be registered with the Alpaca Owners Association
            • be microchipped
            • have a negative BVD test

AOA always has a huge backlog in January, so send in your blood card for registration by December 1 to beat the rush.  Don't forget to add BVD testing to your order with AOA.

MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show

In addition to a halter show, the MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show offers production classes, which give exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their breeding programs.

Registration for Get of Sire and Produce of Dam are available online for $45.00 per entry for MOPACA members; $50.00 for non-members.

Breeder’s Best Three entries are also $45.00 each for members, $50.00 for non-members, and will be accepted until the end of check-in.

The Walking Fleece show is part of the MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show.

All exhibitors must also complete and submit Exhibitor Disclosure Forms when they register.

Mid America Alpaca Challenge

The Mid America Alpaca Challenge includes a regular halter show, including Small Breeder classes.

From the AOA Show System Handbook:

Novice classes are intended to encourage new or novice breeders to show their alpacas with other novice breeders.

A farm qualifies as a Novice Breeder if it has owned alpacas for five years or less. Small Breeder classes are intended for small breeders to show their alpacas with other similarly sized farms. A farm qualifies as a Small Breeder if it has no more than 20 AOA registered females at the time of registration for that show. These classes are meant to foster and further the education of novice and/or small breeders through class placements and Judge comments. Show Superintendents shall verify eligibility though an active AOA account and/or Owner of Record for Show Entry.

Walking Fleece Show

There will ONLY be 120 openings for Walking Fleece this year!!! So register early!

What's a walking fleece show? It's all about the fiber!

Each animal is judged alone. After examining the fleece, the judge provides provides oral reasoning to you right there on the spot. Conformation and the weight of the blanket do not play a role in the judging.

There is no skirting, bagging up and mailing involved, and while you are at the show you will get a second judge giving you an opinion on your animal. What more could you ask for!

Beverly Brehm will be our Walking Fleece Judge this year, and is excited about judging each and every entry. If you have not entered before, NOW is the time!!!

You can find more information about the Walking Fleece show and requirements here.

Register for the Walking Fleece Show when you register for the MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show.
